About Phoenix Fleet Ltd.

Phoenix Fleet Ltd is a family business established in 1955 by Mick Richardson and now run by Robin and Patrick Richardson, all keen and capable racing yachtsmen

Brothers Robin and Patrick Richardson have over 25 years experience in the building, restoration and repair of traditional, wooden, inland waterway craft including motor cruisers and launches, cruising and racing yachts and keelboats.

As keen racing yachtsmen all the family have a good understanding of customers requirements and work hard to build a relationship with owners so that the finished project is a reflection of the owners wishes, not just another job.

Projects of all sizes are accepted from new builds from inception to completion, total restorations to a simple repaint & varnish. Transport to our yard can be arranged from other waterways.

As times have changed so have methods of construction and we have built and outfitted new GRP boats and used epoxy/wood composites.

Development and plug work for both our fleet and commercial customers has also been successfully undertaken.

Examples of boats built by us can now be found on the French Canals, Dutch Waterways, Irish Rivers, River Thames, as well as the Norfolk Broads.

We are probably best known to thousands of Broads holidaymakers as the pilots who Phoenix Fleet Boat Builders East Anglia navigate hire cruisers through the famous medieval bridge, adjacent to the boatyard, on their way to the internationally important nature reserves at Hickling and Horsey. We are also boatbuilders with 25 years experience in wood and GRP construction of inland waterway craft. In 1982 we built the first electric launch for hire on the Broads leading to the development of our fleet and to the Phoenix 21

Developed and built at our yard the Phoenix 21 is a striking, modern design for electric (or diesel) power. Comfortable seating for 12 people, very stable, with access to a forward well making mooring simple and safe, the boat has proved popular with hirers on the Broads and Thames and is now available for sale direct.

We are not production builders and every boat is built to individual owners specification. There are three models, two pictured on these pages and a third with an extended cabin with space for wc., cooker etc.Since we operate these boats ourselves, boats can always be made available for trials at our yard and possibly on the waterway you would use yourself.
