About Flying Classrooms

Flying Classrooms English Language School is situated in the centre of the historic city of Norwich. It is just two hours from both Cambridge and London making it ideally placed for experiencing life in England. There are cafes and restaurants close by, a Cathedral and castle, art galleries, and museums as well as the University of East Anglia, Norwich City College, and the Norwich School of Art and Design - not to mention the fantastic shopping centres!

We pride ourselves on the ability to accommodate the needs of students. Our student computer network offers a range of study options using the Internet, CD-ROMs, videos, songs, and DVDs- all of which are available in class as well as for self-study periods. The library has a huge selection of English books, which can be used for research or borrowed for your enjoyment. Our teachers are all highly qualified and experienced, plus we offer small classes (maximum 12 students) to allow courses to be adapted to meet the needs of a group. Friendly reception staff are available at all times to help you with your life in Norwich and organise activities during free periods.

At Flying Classrooms we specialise in courses preparing you for further study at an English educational institution or those that help students to pass English exams in their own country. General English is at the heart of all our courses as this provides opportunities for students to mix with other nationalities. Our fifteen hours a week programme following a course book uses multimedia facilities and practises real English through tasks set by the teacher. Teaching takes place in the morning, leaving the afternoons free to use the self-access material and explore the Norwich area further.

Students who wish to study for exams or to prepare for study at an English University, school, or college follow an afternoon programme providing a further six hours a week (making 21 hours a week in total) of intensive study. This programme teaches skills such as academic writing, note taking, exam skills, and research using a library, and further grammar and vocabulary. All courses can be booked for periods of two weeks up to one academic year.

Private classes can also be arranged to suit individual students.

Most of our students prefer to stay with an English host family where they can experience the English way of life as well as gain extra practice in communication. Our specially selected families can provide a single study bedroom, breakfast, and evening meals.

For students who prefer to live independently, a limited number of rooms are available in the Flying Classrooms self-catering house. The house has two kitchens and bathrooms, a telephone and television. Gas, electricity, and water are included.

We are also able to arrange hotel or bed and breakfast accommodation in Norwich at a range of standards and prices.

All accommodation is arranged solely for the use of Flying Classrooms clients.

At Flying Classrooms we organise a weekly programme of social events. This includes an evening get-together with staff members and other students in a restaurant or local pub, a sporting activity, and a visit of cultural interest. Typical events include a visit to the award-winning Sainsbury Centre for Modern Art, bowling, or a drink at the oldest pub in Norwich: The Adam and Eve. We are also happy to provide a programme and maps for weekend visits to Cambridge, London and others local towns, as well as helping to buy tickets.

Our school is well known for its friendly reputation and we pride ourselves on our level of individual student care. As a student of Flying Classrooms, all your requirements will be taken care of by myself, our support staff and our teaching team.

I enjoy monitoring our students' progress and helping them towards their language learning goals on a daily basis. With up to 30 nationalities in our school, Flying Classrooms gives you the opportunity to make friends from all over the world whilst improving your English under the guidance of our excellent and motivating teachers. Our team looks forward to welcoming you!
